Playroom ideas are right up my ally. I have two boys, ages 3 and 1, which means we have a lot of toys! We are living in a rental home right now and do not have a dedicated toy room. Instead we have a small space in our living room dedicated to toys. I gave it a face lift and LOVE the way it turned out. Playroom ideas and inspiration often come as you're scrolling through instagram and Pinterest.
I hope this post gives you inspiration to create a space that inspires you and is practical for your kiddos. Also, just know that you DO NOT have to spend a crazy amount of money to create a playroom you love. I created this space for under $150. We made the storage piece ourselves, purchased the mirror and frames from Target, purchased the bins from Ikea and I filled the frames with images I took (they are HERE on our Etsy shop.)

What should be in your playroom?
This is really up to you and what you want for your playroom. For me, I want things to be inspirational and practical. There is a balance. To inspire, I wanted the picture frames and mirror hanging on the wall. I know I can switch out these photos to be seasonal and I love that! We can get inspiring photos for every season. These photos are what I am using from winter and I love THESE from summer.
As far as practicality, I love these Ikea wicker bins. They are beautiful but very sturdy and practical. I have been using them for over a month now and they have held up really well. I throw all of the toys from our playroom in the bins at night and call it a day. I also added a few pillows and a blanket to add a cozy touch and pull everything together.

How can I make my playroom fun?
Just know, kids are easy to please! Don't get worked up over the decor. Get inspired and get to work! Don't overwhelm yourself with instagram and Pinterest. Add a few fun touches for your kids and help them come up with playroom ideas.
I think the frames with seasonal images is a fun touch! My son will love picking out pictures to switch out. You can also have your kids draw and create something to put on your walls! That is a personal touch and a fun way to bring your kids into the project.

Is a playroom a good idea?
A playroom is ALWAYS a good idea in my opinion. We don't have the space right now, so we made our own play space in our living room. I like having a dedicated playroom because it gives my kids a place to do whatever they want, like making messes. It is hard having a play area in the living room because our living is full of toys most days, which is expected.
When we move, I am planning on having a dedicated play area. If you have multiple kids, you know that they need a space of their own to create and play and use their imagination. That is my goal for my boys and I think a dedicated playroom helps accomplish that goal.

How do you decorate a playroom on a budget?
I know that budgeting for a playroom is probably not your first priority. I truly believe that you DO not have to spend a lot of money on this. My biggest tip is to look on facebook marketplace first. I get a lot of our things off of facebook marketplace for dirt cheap. Make sure you are looking on marketplace daily and jump on something if you want it, or it will probably sell!
Also, just look for budget friendly options from Target, Walmart and Ikea. Here are a few of my favorite things.
