Charleston SC Weekend Getaway
The best part about Charleston SC is the southern features. We love the architecture, the greenery, the colors and the history. When you walk the streets, you feel welcomed and inspired.
Every single morning we drove over to The Battery and sipped our morning coffee. The Battery is one of our favorite places in Charleston SC. The Battery is a seawall by the water. It is similar to a park and has a walking path lining the water. We love walking and looking at the homes on the water.

Best Things to do In Charleston SC
The first think you have to do is go to The Battery and walk around. After you take in the glorious views of the water, go ahead and walk through the historic district. Take in the beautiful homes and the history Charleston SC has to offer. It is truly breath taking. You feel enveloped in history and southern charm. As you walk through, make sure you stop at the famous Rainbow Row. It is the perfect place to grab a picture.
We also love walking through the City Market. It is located right in the center of the downtown area. There are vendors set up throughout the market and they also have great food! We like going in the morning when they first open to avoid the crowds.
If you are looking to get your shop on, you have to head to King Street. King street is loaded with shops. There are name brand stores and really unique boutiques as well. King street also has a lot of cool restaurants and coffee shops if you need energy while you shop.
When you need a getaway from the city, there are great beaches close to Charleston SC. We love Folly Beach and Isle of Palms. They have great restaurants and beautiful views of the beach. You can also head to Sullivan's Island as well. The beaches have public parking, small shops and great beach restaurants. The greatest part about staying in Charleston SC is that you get to live the city life and the beach life.
The Best Restaurants in Charleston SC
The food game in Charleston SC is AMAZING. We love so many restaurants. Our favorite coffee shop is The Harbinger. It is just outside of the city, so you may have to drive, but it is worth it! We love the menu and the vibe. It is a beautiful place. My favorite drink is their turmeric chai tea latte, it is incredible!
One of our favorite dinner spots is The Felix. If you want a great, beautiful dinner, this is the place to go. The food is delicious and the vibe is so good! I ordered the gnocchi and Mason ordered the burger and both were great. They also have great drinks!
If you are looking for a good brunch spot, The Husk is fantastic. The serve southern dishes with a modern touch. I ordered the shrimp and grits and Mason ordered the hot cakes. We really enjoyed both. They are extremely busy and you have to make reservations. If you get there early enough you may be able to sit on the patio, it is a gorgeous view!
We really love breakfast in Charleston SC, and we found the perfect spot, Toast. The food was AMAZING. I ordered crab biscuits and Mason ordered the breakfast sandwich. It is definitely some of the best food we had in Charleston. If you are a breakfast person, we definitely recommend Toast.
When we first arrived in Charleston SC, we were so hungry and decided to walk down King St. As we walked, we found Juanita Greenberg's. They are known for their nachos and that is what we ordered. Let me tell you, they are some of the best nachos we have ever tasted! It has a casual vibe and the patio is great!
If you decide to head to the beach on Sullivan's Island, check out Poe's Tavern. We both ordered tacos and they were delicious. It is a casual beach restaurant with upscale food. It was crowded, so you may have to get there early for lunch and dinner.
One night for dinner one of our friends, who also loves Charleston SC, recommend The Basic Kitchen. It is a great restaurant that focuses on clean ingredients and whole foods. I ordered the fried chicken and loved it! They also make their cocktails from scratch and sweeten them with natural sweeteners.

Honestly, you can fit in SO MUCH in 3 days. I recommend researching before you get there and have your days planned out so you can fit everything in! The historic district is a must see. While you're there, stop by rainbow row.
Spend one day in the actual downtown area. Enjoy The Battery, King street shopping and eat all of the food.
After you spend a day soaking up downtown Charleston, head to one of the beach towns near by and soak up the sun.

This is completely up to you. You can easily spend a week in Charleston, but you can also spend a weekend. We have done both and equally loved both. There is enough to do in Charleston to keep you busy!

This is also up to you, but we love to go in the late spring or early fall. If you do go in the summer months, it is BEAUTIFUL, but extremely humid and hot. If you go during the summer, stay on the beach so you can cool off after being in the sun all day.
We went in October of last year and it was gorgeous. The weather was perfect and we loved every second of our stay in Charleston SC. The temps were around 75 every day. It wasn't hot enough to swim in the ocean, but perfect for exploring the downtown area.
